防空（直衛）駆逐艦「秋月型」の誕生から「松型」「橘型」

黎明期から終戦時までの日本海軍駆逐艦を、順を追って話していく4回分割企画の第4弾は、「丙型」(島風)、「乙型」(秋月型)、「丁型」(松型)、「改丁型」(橘型)を取り上げます。

内容的には、いつもの個艦特集と同じ方向性で、各型各艦を竣工時−最終時で作例紹介と解説で構成しますが、「秋月型」の変遷については複雑で多岐にわたるため、前期竣工艦(秋月型)、後期竣工艦(冬月型)の違い、各艦の装備の変遷など、いつもの解説の他に別項も設け、図面、イラスト入りで詳細に解説します。
今回も1/700スケールの他、1/350、1/200スケールのキットも作例紹介します。

Feature: The Lineage of Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyers Vol.4 – From Decisive Fleet Engagements to Carrier Escort Duty, Deteriorating War Conditions and the Emergence of Emergency Wartime Production Types –

From the birth of the air-defense (carrier escort) destroyer “Akizuki-class” to the “Matsu-class” and “Tachibana-class.”

This fourth installment of our four-part series tracing the Imperial Japanese Navy destroyers from their early days to the end of the war focuses on the Type C (Shimakaze), Type B (Akizuki-class), Type D (Matsu-class), and Modified Type D (Tachibana-class).

As with our usual single-ship features, each class and each vessel is presented through detailed build examples and commentary, covering their appearance from completion to their final configuration. Because the evolution of the Akizuki-class is particularly complex and varied, this issue includes additional dedicated sections explaining the differences between early-production ships (Akizuki-type) and later-production ships (Fuyutsuki-type), as well as equipment changes on individual vessels. These are illustrated in detail with drawings and diagrams.
In addition to 1/700 scale, build examples in 1/350 and 1/200 scale are also featured.
