The Cold War—after World War II, the East and West blocs, led by the U.S. and the Soviet Union, faced off in a tense balance of power. This was the era of “quantity over quality,” where superiority was sought through sheer numbers of strategic bombers, fighters, interceptors, and nuclear weapons. Due to a severe lack of reliable intelligence, both sides fell victim to “overestimation and paranoia,” which further fueled development races and an ever-accelerating arms buildup. In the upcoming issue, *Air Model Special No.15* will continue the focus from the previous issue, this time on the other Cold War giant: the United States Air Force’s strategic nuclear bombers.
