During World War II, the German army developed excellent tanks, but from the early stages of the war, they also worked on developing tank destroyers dedicated to anti-tank combat. Furthermore, as the war progressed, to compensate for numerical inferiority, they mounted guns on outdated tanks or captured vehicles, and in the latter stages of the war, they produced a large number of dedicated tank destroyer vehicles (self-propelled guns) with specialized chassis.
